Mykonos, Greece |

We didn't arrive at Mykonos, Greece, until the afternoon and the ship anchored in the harbor. We tendered ashore here and since we did not have an excursion booked, we had to get tender tickets. It only took about 20 minutes before our ticket groups was called. After a short tender ride we were deposited right in the little fishing village. This was the opposite of the bazaar. It was quaint, quiet and easy to stroll and souvenir-shop. There a lots of outdoor cafes to sit by the water and have a beer or glass of wine. The guys and gals split up since we have different ideas about the pace. I bought a charm thing for my key chain, Jo got some olive-oil soaps and a few trinkets for gifts. We stopped at a cafe and asked for some local wine that was so local it didn't have a name. We got a carafe of red and a carafe of white. Our waiter (probably the owner) suggested some appetizers so we let him pick. Tzatziki, bread, olives and a plate of fried feta - yum. Thanks Charlene for treating us! Back on the ship, JO and Nancy went for a cocktail and discovered our now favorite bartender, Mike. He made us caipirinhas with favors. Jo had raspberry and Nancy had passion fruit. The raspberry sort of overwhelms the lime but the passion fruit was a nice combination. Have to remember to tell the guys at Keei Cafe back home that a lilikoi caipirinha might be a good addition to their drink menu. Once we could walk straight, we dressed for dinner and joined Bill, Debbie, Sandra, Joe, and a family of four from Australia at the any-time dining room. Just a note. Any-time dining seems okay and good for a trip like this that is port-intensive. But there is something missing. Dinner is no longer an event. It is just getting something to eat. We have seldom gone to the dining room at all and haven't worn most of our dressy clothes at all. You kind of have to make yourself. |
